Monopole percolation in pure gauge compact QED.

چکیده
The role of monopoles in quenched compact QED has been studied by measuring the cluster susceptibility and the order parameter n max /n tot previously introduced by Hands and Wensley in the study of the percolation transition observed in non-compact QED. A correlation between these parameters and the energy (action) at the phase transition has been observed. We conclude that the order parameter n max /n tot is a sensitive probe for studying the phase transition of pure gauge compact QED.

Monopole percolation in scalar QED
One of the most challenging unsolved questions that arise in the application of lattice theory to particle physics is to understand the nature of the phase structure of lattice Quantum Electrodynamics. Numerical simulations of pure gauge Lattice QED with periodic boundary conditions and using the compact gauge action S = β cos θ show the existence of a first order phase transition [1]. This avo...
متن کاملThe Universality Class of Monopole Condensation in Non-compact, Quenched Lattice Qed
Finite size scaling studies of monopole condensation in noncompact quenched lattice QED indicate an authentic second order phase transition lying in the universality class of four dimensional percolation. Since the upper critical dimension of percolation is six, the measured critical indices are far from mean-field values. We propose a simple set of ratios as the exact critical indices for this...
متن کاملOn the Universality Class of Monopole Percolation in Scalar QED
We study the critical properties of the monopole-percolation transition in U(1) lattice gauge theory coupled to scalars at infinite (β = 0) gauge coupling. We find strong scaling corrections in the critical exponents that must be considered by means of an infinite-volume extrapolation. After the extrapolation, our results are as precise as the obtained for the four dimensional site-percolation ...
متن کاملNon-Compact Pure Gauge QED in 3D is Free
For all Poincaré invariant Lagrangians of the form L ≡ f(Fμν), in three Euclidean dimensions, where f is any invariant function of a non-compact U(1) field strength Fμν , we find that the only continuum limit (described by just such a gauge field) is that of free field theory: First we approximate a gauge invariant version of Wilson’s renormalization group by neglecting all higher derivative te...
متن کاملOn the Interplay of Monopoles and Chiral Symmetry Breaking in Non-Compact Lattice QED
Non-compact lattice QED is simulated for various numbers of fermion species Nf ranging from 8 through 40 by the exact Hybrid Monte Carlo algorithm. Over this range of Nf , chiral symmetry breaking is found to be strongly correlated with the effective monopoles in the theory. For Nf between 8 and 16 the chiral symmetry breaking and monopole percolation transitions are second order and coincident...
